Malaysia Najib: Jamaluddin Jarjis to be both Ambassador and MP
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Ambassador-designate to the United States Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis will retain his position as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rompin.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said despite the appointment, Jamaluddin will be able to serve as MP as he would have a strong team to assist him and he would return for Parliamentary sittings.
Najib said most importantly, Jamaluddin would have a role to play in forging close ties with the United States in both the political as well as the trade, investment and economic fields, besides making Malaysia’s stand in other related international issues.
“This is an important appointment. He has the ability to reach out to the members of the US Congress and he has the knowledge to forge better bilateral ties between both countries.
“We cannot deny that the stand of the United States is most important and it is hoped that he can assist in the decisions made as well as in terms of expanding the economy, trade and investment,” he told reporters after launching a programme organised by Wanita Barisan Nasional, here today. — Bernama

Most important we don’t have to go through another by-election. Not only Umno’s integrity at stake, but imagine how much we have to spend on Rakyat’s money.
