Mat Taib says Umno men warned not to nominate him

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib claims there are attempts by certain people to intimidate party members who wanted to nominate him for the deputy president’s post.

“I received information that party members who wanted to nominate several aspiring candidates, including myself, have been threatened and their nominations blocked.

“There were cases where nominations were suddenly closed prematurely, while members in other places received threats after they nominated certain candidates. I was also rumoured to have withdrawn my candidacy,” he said, adding that some members were warned that they would be in trouble if he managed to secure enough nominations for the post.

“It will be difficult for aspiring Umno

candidates if certain people continue to intimidate or threaten to block nominations during party elections,” Muhammad told reporters at his office at Parliament House yesterday.

He declined to name the Umno divisions or the persons involved.

Mohamad son of Mohamad by now should realize even majority umnoputras rejected him.

Abdullah: ‘Anyone can be the PM’

PUTRAJAYA: It is possible for anyone from a minority group to be a nation’s leader, even in Malaysia, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi.

“It is up to the people to decide, just as the Americans had done through the democratic process,” he said while extending his congratulations to Senator Barack Obama.

Reporters had asked him in the Parliament lobby yesterday if it were possible for a person from a minority group to become Prime Minister in Malaysia.

I don’t believe what I’ve heard the outgoing PM had said. Of course for that to happen we had first to amend the federal and state constitutions and remove umno from the government administration.

A fortnight ago just to appoint a GM for PKNS there’s a loud cry especially from umnoputras. AAB dare say just because he is going off. Umnoputra had to grow up and transform for that to happen.

FATWA VS. PATUA PUJANGGA.

Islam mengharamkan hubungan sesama jenis, lelaki mahu pun perempuan.
